Default 59A water pumps leaking... Oil!

I have fine traces of oil being flung from the pulleys on both my water pumps. Is this normal? I thought it was water at first, it may have been, but now there is no water, but just a fine trace of oil.

Oil pressure is 80psi cold with revs up, falling to 5 or 10 or so at idle when fully warmed up, not sure when driving, haven't driven it with the gauge hooked up.

So, is this normal? At least it proves the pumps are receiving oil. This is in my farm fresh beater 41 pickup, if it was in something really smart it would be more of a problem.

Any advice?

Mart.

The fiber washer between pulley and pump body may be worn out or the sealing surfaces rough from the engine sitting.
If itīs not pjuking oil all over the place run it and it may improve...or tell you itīs time for a rebuild.

I have seen this on many engines. I consider it a better alternative than blocked oil passages.

If the engine sat for a while the shaft could be stuck.
The spring needs to be freed up so it will work.
CAREFULLY pry the pulley forward and tap it back,
do this a number of times until you can pull it forward
and it snaps back it self. Also to thin of oil, try 20/50.
This will only work on the original bushing type pumps,
it don't work with the replacement bearing pumps. G.M.
