Default sheet metal

Does anyone know the purpose of the small (3/4") bend on the lower
back edge of the rumble seat platform. I have a 29 Roadster.
This small bend also has a couple of 3" notches on both right and left
side.
It almost looks as though a small rectangular panel could be installed
between this bend and the rear subrail. This would close off the air
pocket under the rear curved panel.

I looked at my tin parts for my 28 roadster, but not the complete car. My thought
is the notch is the part that sits on top of the sub rail. What do you think?

That's what I thought when I read the post. I put the curved inner panel and the
seat platform together, this is below that area. On each side, on the back side it
is .500 X 4.00 long.

Is it in this picture? This is the underside on a brooksville floor pan.

I'm just now reading all the responses. eeyore, thanks for the pic. That small bend just in front of the curved panel is what I'm refering to. On both sides of the bend
there are .5"x4" notches as mentioned by Dudley. The notches basically just hang out
in space and don't sit on the subrails. If the curved RUMBLE panel sits on this bend
then the notches might have a function, but they are closed off and underneath
if it's a TRUNK. Still a mystery to me.

I don't have a finished 29 roadster to go from but I think the curved rear panel sits on top of the rear floor pan and the screw heads are counter sunk in the top of the rounded edge of the curved panel. I would like to see some pictures of this area and the sides of the curved panel with the hinge area if anyone can help. Thanks

Thumbs down Re: sheet metal

Does anyone have any 29 roadster pictures of the rear floor pan and side hinge area with a rumble pan?
