Re: Master cylinder
There was a recent thread on this (maybe yours??) with the pic you want.
Many conversions were done this way using the brake cross shaft. Do you have 39-42 backing plates or the easier to adjust 42-48's?? Paul in CT |

Re: Master cylinder
Without seeing it I would suspect the leverage of the linkage. When you push the pedal how much does the rod at the master cylinder move? When you say you don't have good brakes what are they doing? Any photos?

Re: Master cylinder
I did put a thread. Just trying to get more info. Charlie you wrote about leverage of the linkage. I will look tomorrow morning to see how for the rod is going into the cylinder that may be my problem. On having good brakes the peddle goes nearly to the floor pumping don’t do any good it will stop but not good enough to trust driving. Don’t know how to send pics. The plates are 40. How much should the rod move. Thanks everyone.

Re: Master cylinder
Have you adjusted the brake shoes?? New shoes?? Bled the system?? Maybe 1/8" brake rod clearance.

Re: Master cylinder
What kind of master cylinder does the car have? Maybe it's undersize?

Chris would the larger piston push more fluid or more pressure to the wheels. An how for should the rod go into the master cylinder.

Re: Master cylinder
Larger piston = more volume. Bolts on exactly like the passenger car cylinder and looks the same.

Re: Master cylinder
Do you get a hard pedal after bleeding?? Which backing plates do you have?? 39-42 or 46-48?? Wheel cylinders mounted correctly?? Go to the V8 forum and search : Brake Adjust.

Re: Master cylinder
After toying with that idea and not feeling comfortable with the geometry, I went with Daves battery box set up, dual Mustang master is hard to beat.
