To be clear : When the points close, the connection through the coil is made because the points are grounded. Therefore, in a Ford that has a positive ground system, the "+" marked terminal on the coil should be connected to the distributor.

The (+) goes to the points.

Since the points eventually go to ground, wouldn't on a + ground system, the wire to the distributor from the coil (assuming a can type coil) would be from the + term of the coil ?
On neg ground cars, the wire from the - pole goes to the distributor. Essentially matching the ground of the overall system. Or have I had that wrong for over 50 years?
I see others beat me to it.

It will run either way and i bet a lot of people have them hooked both ways. It just won't be as effective if hooked up backwards. I have two of these in my tool boxes. Can't go wrong. Plus i never trust coil markings in today's world.
