Default How hard to get an original Model A title?

I just got an email from a friend that has a title that might be available. He has asked me to price it for him, but I have no idea what is a fair amount to ask. I will be posting an add for it on the flea market 'side'.

That is the amount that he is asking. Thanks for the 'heads up'.

In most states it is illegal to sell a title without a somewhat complete car. If caught doing so in Nebraska it carries a 90 day minimum of jail time. Not worth the risk for me. Rod

I assume Ryan may have removed it for me. Thanks, Ryan, sorry about the problem. I don't get here as often as I used to. I did not mean to cause any issues(s).

I hear that there is a unknown person out near Hershey that has some.
May not want to deal with him, he's a theft.
If you happen to run across him please notify the authorities.

Rather than paying $500 for a Title, here's what I am in the process of doing..

Get a "Bonded" Title.

I filled out an Application for a Bonded Title with the Iowa Department of Transportation. (IDOT.) The Forms in your State will tell you what they want.

In my case, It's a Bill of Sale between the Seller and Buyer (you); as many pictures to describe what you have and a picture of the Number stamped on the left rail. IDOT calls that the "VIN."

After receipt and approval of the Application, they will send you a Form to get a "Surety Bond." Find a Firm that deals in Surety Bonds. Mine cost me $100.

The Lawyer from that firm said that I will take then signed Bond with me to get a Title.

I am waiting for IDOT to determine if a visual inspection is required.

BTW, In Iowa, you can use Year of Manufacture (YOM) plates if you have them. Years must match.

Sounds like a lot of work, but I feel that I might end up with a "clearer" title.

One way..

Larry

I have a bonded Colorado title and it was very easy. Too often, owners will not take the time to understand exactly how a bonded title works. As it was, I blew $400 on a couple of titles from Broadway Title that were unacceptable here. Applying for a lost title doesn't always work in some states. Even the dumbest DMV clerk will look at you sideways when you produce a "bill of sale" for a "lost" title

I'm sorry too..

Maybe in Illinois, but, that's the way it works here in Iowa.

In Michigan if you try to use it you will be arrested for fraud and they confiscate the vehicle! Hardly worth taking a chance. Wayne
