Holley 94, no gas to engine
Hi all, Great season and it's been while with no issues. Just switched back to a single Holley 94 I've used in the past few years. Was fine when I put it away. Lubed it covered all holes. Just put today and after priming at carb it runs & revs up fine until primed carb with gas or starting fluid runs out. I know it's getting gas as I disconnected fuel line while cranking to check. Acts like it's out of gas after prime is gone? Thinking maybe float sticking?

Float needle sticky. Whip it out and clean it. If it's the rubbery tipped one, replace it with a proper metal one.

Embarrassed to ask where is the float needle?
Can it be accessed from outside of carb or does the top of carb have to come off?

Take the top off
Slide out the pin holding the float. And out comes the needle valve. If it sticks bad a bit of pressure air into the fuel inlet. |

To access the float needle remove the (5) 10-32 screws that attach the top of the carb (air horn) to the bowl. You will have to wiggle the AH up past the choke arm, of course the fuel line and air cleaner are by now removed. You will immediately see the brass float, remove the float hinge pin and there is the needle....probably it has dropped on the floor. If the needle has a black sort of rubbery tip as scooder mentioned it should be replaced with either the old style stainless needle or the new and quite revolutionary DAYTONA PARTS high tech , sort of, needle and seat. Now Having dragged you thru all this you can buy some time and temporarily fix your problem by rinsing the needle off with fresh gas and making sure there is no crap in the seat and reassembling whole shebang while you wait for gasohol proof goodies above mentioned to arrive from one of our eager vendors. The rubber tipped ones are EVIL. Listen to the above!

Re: Holley 94, no gas to engine
Seems to be running fine after I opened up the top removed float and float needle. Float needle is the all metal type and was clean as a whistle but I could barely get air through the inlet nozzle. looked inside the needle holeand saw black thick goo. Couldn't tell if a bug got in there or whether it was a rubber seat or washer which had broke down. Blew It out cleaned and reassembled with just the v-point of the needle shutting off the gas at seat hole. Did I need any rubber seat or washer in the needle hole first? Seems to be running fine now.

If your needle is all metal you have the right one and are good to go

Re: Holley 94, no gas to engine
The folks on this site are awesome. This somewhat easy fix could of had Anthony jumping through a lot of hoops and maybe not ever figured it out. I get questions from folks all the time, give my opinion and refer them to this site for more input. The only stupid question is the one not asked.
