It should go back to the Ford Museum with the rest of the family's milestone autos.

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
That is the replica if i'm not mistaken, according to Vence Faulter's Ford Garage.
The original is still around but is much changed from its Model A roots. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/edselphaeton.htm (edit) OK, I just finished the Hemmings article, it is the car returned to its original form. Thanks WTSHNN!

Similiar, but not matching. I do not know where this gentleman originates from.

Interesting that it has Ford script on the ammeter.

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
i just finishes a story on Deluxe Phaeton for a upcoming mag..Edsel had a lot to do with the 180A. As Larry Hierholzer from Michigan said : EDSEL Ford styling exploits: THE 2 DOOR DELUXE PHAETON 180A ..When you think about it, WHO ELSE out there made a TUDOR PHAETON body style???? Fine story done by Larry in the Model "A" News mag. in May/June 2002.

Looks like a repro ammeter, along with the instrument panel, gas gauge nuts & gas gauge.

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
I always thought that car was ugly. I would much rather have a standard phaeton for my use. I can say nothing good about Edsels styling on that one. I guess being a common man, I just don't have rich taste.

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
O come on... Over all a very, very nice restoration and $$$$$ to boot. I am sure they did not have FINE POINT JUDGING in their mind...If you want to go down the list then the ON / OFF plate for pop-out , late 1931 brake drums. l.o.l...if you were to go over every car at the Henry Ford Museum you will find a lot of repops.

Refer to post #5 about the headlamps. Has anyone else noticed the Panhard rod on the front axle? It's mounted to a one-off front spring clamp. I'd like to see more detail shots of that chassis. |

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
Is the Genny one of those new fangled Alt/gen? I like the panhard bar. Would work well on a larger and heavier A like a Panel/Delivery or my Woodie.

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
That is very stylish. It appears Edsel & Ford designer E.T. Gregorie were interested in European Auto styling, culminating in the Model 40 of '33& '34.
Re that chassis pic, besides the Panhard bar on the front, look at what is on the rear & it is not Fords transverse spring! |

Re: Edsel's Dual-Cowl Phaeton up for Auction
and the 1950's Benz in the corner of the picture of the frame--that would also be a sweet ride.
