Default Aldon Amethyst Mappable Ignition System

Looking for some real info on installs with this unit. I can read all about it on their website, but I'd like to hear from people that actually installed them and how they're working out.
Thanks, Joe

I ran one on my roadster for a while. I used with a pertronics unit. After a winter's layup, I found when I ran it in the spring I had a misfire. I removed both units and went back to a points distributor and a Velleman ignition amplifier kit.

I can't say if it was the amethyst or the pertronics that caused the misfire, so can neither recommend or condemn it.

I can say, however, that a few people I know do use them and have not had the same problem. I can also say they are not tolerant of "dirty" ignition leads. They require suppressed leads. Mine wouldn't run at all with my solid core leads. A new set of suppressed leads sorted it out.

Mart.
