If you have ever drained the water that has a little oil in the mixture out of an air compressor, it will look and act the same, no salt water required.

Re: This you gota see
i have seen this maney times caused by the exhaust manfolds whitch are water cooled in a boat. when they rot through whitch is common when dealing with salt water ask any north east boat owner. this is the first time i have seen this plug proulbem whith was the result of runing a coumple salt water cooling system. if he wants that eng to last he schould install a heat exchanger whitch allows you to run anti freez & a thermost in the eng doulbing its life. a comple salt water cooled eng aint worth the powder to blow it to hell .

Re: This you gota see
The same thing happened to a friend's boat he had moored down Cape Cod a few years back. He didn't have a bilge pump nstalled and the bilge filled with water. Water got into the pan, probably at the gasket, and got the same results as this video. If he had checked the oil before stating the engine, he would have seen the level was way too high. Once he started the motor it whipped the oil into goo just like this video. Aft fixing that, his oil pan rotted through. Needless to say, he got rid of that boat. Dick

Re: This you gota see
We're off track here, but Richard Crow is right. I was in the boat business for 15 years. ran them for 30 professionally. Elbows have ruined countless engines. Another place to look is intake manifolds. They'll pinhole where saltwater hits the hot aluminum. One engine came in with holes in pistons, cracked cylinder walls, pieces of valves missing, and that awful milkshake sludge all through it. The operator said it ran fine right up to the dock! You betcha......
Long story short: car engines don't belong in boats, especially salt water. Even marine engines with sacrifical anodes, brass plugs, etc. will not give you the life of an outboard. Retired boat captain, instructor, and general manager at a boat dealership. |
