Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?
Bert's and Snyder's saddles look dfferent, both in appearance and finish. Which one is correct?

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?
Bengt,
It looks like the one on the right is for a model T. Note the T at the beginning of the PN. Looking at Snyder's catalog T-3876-B is for a 22 -27 model T. Actually they look pretty much the same to me, except the one on the right is powdercoated. Rusty |

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?
I saw that too Rusty, but it's the only one Snyder's have. I imagined it was carried over to Model A.
They are similar, Snyder's looks a little bit more slender it seems. But that may be an illusion. I think they didn't powdercoat in 1929. But I also think the finish of the other one is pretty coarse. I doubt that is the correct finish. The old ones I have are rusty but I can see they are pretty coarse too. Maybe they were coarse and just painted black |

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?
Bengt, do you have the top boot to secure over the folded top ??? This is the black or tan cover that protects the folded top. Along the rear belt line molding there should be studs to secure the boot and keep the low hanging material and window from drooping down. Maybe this is what you need to help clear the spare tire. The boot also helps keep the loose/folded top from blowing freely in the wind.

you can see mine was also not secured by those rear studs as some of the boot underside is hanging down low over the rear trunk

Beautiful car you've got! Did you buy the cover or did you make it yourself? |

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?
Bengt,
My boot came special order from LeBaron Bonney in 2002, they had standard tan color tan, but I wanted black so as not to see the scuff marks from storage. I think this picture was 15 years ago, I always keep the top up, keeps the hot sun off my head!!!! Phaetons are the BEST!!! I like yours too. Stay well!!!!
