I noticed the car above is being winched at the center of the front axle. I think I remember reading somewhere that it should be winched from just outside the two spring perches to prevent possible bending of the axle.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to know what the rolling load actually is. Comments please.

You are correct Rob - that photo displays why you don't want that guy hauling anything !

I really doubt that unloading the car that way is really going to hurt anything, the winch line is only there to prevent the car from getting away going down the ramp because there is no one behind the wheel to use the brakes. If the weight of the car on that ramp bends the axle there are bigger problems. Now if you are trying to pull it out of a ditch stuck in the mud there are better places to hook up the tow line.

Arrow Google " Model T Transport "

Google " Model T Transport "
See what comes up first
based on internet searches.
Not based on paid advertising.

I have personally transported
over 450 Model T vehicles
and 250 Model A vehicles.

You don't bend an axle on
a Model A or a Model T by
winching a free rolling vehicle
in or out out of a trailer.

That - is a fact:

Jim at trulyvintage knows what he's doing. I've used his services and was very impressed by his professionalism. I would be very surprised if he ever put a scratch on any of the hundreds of vintage cars and trucks he's transported. (and no, I'm not related to him)

Arrow Winch On - Winch Off

All vehicles I transport are never driven
by me me in or out of the trailer.

They are winched.

That way - there is no question
of mechanical damage while
in transport.

There is no possibility of a slipping
clutch - bad brakes - tranny issues
that would cause the vehicle to
drive thru the trailer.

(This happens often at auctions
and car show).

There is no banging the driver door
on the inside of the trailer.

I can watch clearances of all sides
and underneath.

I take a walk around video
for the customer at pick up.

If I observe alignment - steering
or other issues they are noted.

Use a major transporter-Intercity, Reliable or Passport. They might cost a little bit more money, but they are completely insured and the most reliable shipping companies. If you care about your car, you should care about your transporter. Don't be cheap when it comes to shipping.

(PS-A lot of the independents are not insured when it comes to the cars that they ship. They tell them they are insured, but this does not mean that they are insured for the vehicle they haul. Your insurance does not cover you if you are using a "Paid for Hire" transporter. I ship a lot of cars, I know. Ask me to explain this to you!!!)
