cutout disassembly
How does the cutout come apart? I took out all the screws, but it appears the outer case and inner assembly are soldered or tacked together. I purchased the diode, but have never seen one apart.

Re: cutout disassembly
Tacked. File the tacks. And tap edges to work top off.

Re: cutout disassembly
You have to break the solder joints.

Re: cutout disassembly
Either work a small chisel or screwdriver between the cover and bottom plate or grind off the area where the welds are.

Re: cutout disassembly
That is not a Model A cutout so why not put your money and your time into a Model A cutout. The one you show in the photo will fit and work OK, but is the later series as used on the Ford V8.

Re: cutout disassembly
I have done a few of these original cut outs, It is not hard to break the spot welds with a small chisel just be careful. I think Tom Wesenberg has a holding fixture for these. Easy to make. Do a search on it.
