Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
I saw it too, actually found it while looking for a spring bushing tool. So far I’ve been able to do all my steering wheels with a modern style puller.

I have this similar Steering Wheel Puller, this one manufactured by Winfield Tool Works. It is a great tool and works well. |

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
I'm still kicking myself. Someone had a complete vintage Snap-On puller set that has a very similar KR Wilson-type puller, but a bunch of others for vintage cars for $100. I forgot about it and lost it.

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
The one on Ebay is a BV-21. It differs somewhat from the VZ-194 which is listed in the 1940 KRW catalog for all 39 and earlier cars. Maybe the VZ-194 is an updated version of the BV-21, redesigned for the later Fords and Zephyrs.

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
$399??? Hard to lay out the kind of loot when I've owned a bunch of cars over the years that I paid less for. On the flip side, you tear up an old '40 Ford or banjo wheel and you're probably out $399.

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
I have used a split bearing separator without a problem. It's a lot cheaper than $399!

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
Tom-MI,
Excellent alternative tool. Harbor Freight has this separator for $49.99. Now - if I could find an alternative tool for removing / installing shackle pins for my '33 leaf springs I'd be all set. |

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
I have a BV21, here it is next to a SnapOn puller. The SnapOn has a removable fork and the threaded shank is an acme (square) thread with a rotating head.
After seeing what that KW brought on Ebay I'm thinking I should part with mine! |

I got the snap on one , its a kit in a nice metal case. Neatest thing about it is the chart on the inside of the lid for all the cars it works on. Its got a lot of adapters along with the typical puller that is the same use on harmonic balancers. I also got the snap on kit for ford perch bolts 1928 to 1948 axles. Same deal, the illustration is the coolest part besides what it does |

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
Very cool! Could you take a photo of the chart and send it to me or post it here? All I have is what is in that photo.

I'm am still kicking myself. A complete Snap-on puller set went on Ebay for $100. I'm so angry I let it get by me.
The Snap-On version is a better made tool. |

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
Between the two in my photo the SnapOn is definitely more refined and more nicely made. The KRW looks a lot harder to break though. I haven't used either yet, can't comment on functionality.

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
The steering wheel puller lists the newest model car year of 1947.
The other kit is for the perch bolts and king pins |

Re: KR Wilson Steering wheel puller
Love it, Skidmarks.
Funny, the perch pin press is identical to the tool they still make. I guess why mess with a good design. Sadly, the new box doesn't have the label. |
