windshield crank
need help taking out a windshield crank on my 1939 ford deluxe, I need to know if i would need to take the dash out in order to get the old crank out. I am having trouble with getting the gear that protrudes through the dash, does anyone know if there is an easier way of getting the crank without taking the dash apart. Reason being the gears in my old crank have broken off.
Thanks Jim S |

Re: windshield crank
I just took my 1939 ford coupe windshield crank out, I am rebuilding it so I had the dash out. I broke one screw off that goes into the windseild frame, so I ground off the 2 pins that hold the arms to the windshield. I got it out that way , so now I can try to get the screws out without breaking any more. It was very rusted.

Cast and steel. The cast ones seem to get stripped more easily. You see repair kits for them ( the cast ones ) on e-bay sometimes |
