1967 Mercury Park Lane Convertible
1967 Mercury Park Lane Convertible. Can anyone tell me the correct size Tyre for this model? At present the size Tyre fitted is P225/75R/15. I cannot see the Size mentioned in the original Sales Brochure. Thanks for your help. |

Is there a label in glove compartment door, sometimes they tell. Radial tyres were available in 67.

Re: 1967 Mercury Park Lane Convertible
The sizes I found for the Marquis model are 8.25 x 15" as standard and 8.55 x 15" as optional. I worked at a service station across the street from a Mercury dealer at that time and I don't remember seeing any radials on new cars then. If they had radials, they probably would have been G78 x 15" or H78 X 15". Not the nomenclature or wider profile tires we are familiar with today.
I went into the service in September of 1967, just before the 1968 models arrived and when I returned, 1971, radials were everywhere. |

Re: 1967 Mercury Park Lane Convertible
Thanks for your help. I looked at the Glove Box Lid, and it only lists Tyre Pressure at 26 Pounds.
I looked up the Workshop Manual and it lists the Tyres as 8.45 x 15. For Radials, what does 8.45 x 15 convert to? |

Re: 1967 Mercury Park Lane Convertible
There are size comparison charts on the internet to go from the old sizes to the current sizes, for instance:
8.25 x 15 ==> G78 x 15 ==> 215/75R15 ==> 225/70R15 8.55 x 15 ==> H78 x 15 ==> 225/75R15 ==> 235/70R15 |
