Default 1928 SHORT Parking Brake Cross Shaft

This is a general Model A question not any fine point deal, how long did Ford install the short brake cross shaft in the center cross member? I had a 1928 AA years ago and seam to remember it was still there even though the truck had a transmission mounted brake lever. We have a late 1928 chassis that had the same bracket as evidenced by the pin mounts & caps having been installed. Chassis was never drilled for a left side brake lever. Thanks for the help. Bob

The MARC/MAFCA Restoration Guidelines and Judging Standards, which by the way is an excelent source of information about the Model A/AA Ford, tells us November 1928 for Model A and early 1929 for "some commercial vehicles".

Thank you Steve, guess that bracket was just there and working until the new design was in place, correct? Bob

Bob,

Is it possible to "date" your frame to about a specific month of production?

Review this article...http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/frame/..._Assembly2.pdf
