Battery Filler
does anyone know if the modern style of battery filler, the type with the snout that shuts off automatically, works on Model "A" Fords (clearance on floorboards etc.).

Re: Battery Filler
No. I use a Turkey baster, it works good. And I get my distilled water free form my air conditioner.

Re: Battery Filler
Some of the diesel power plants that I worked in years ago used banks of large single cell ni-cad batteries for starting batteries . They used a type of mineral oil that they called celloil that floated on the electrolyte to slow down evaporation. We measured the depth of the celloil w/a pipette, IIRC they called for 5 or 6 mm (~3/16" - 1/4") of oil per cell.
