My 34 pickup has the original grille and shell, all one piece. The SS trim piece has the top ends slitely longer so they can be trimmed to fit under the rad-top bull-nose trim.
The bull nose trim and cap are unique to 34 pickups as they have off-sett notches to fit against each other when cap is tightened.

I think the original question has been well answered. I am adding a few photographs of my '34 pickup grille for reference. All the chrome pieces pictured and the stainless trim are restored and I believe are original to the truck. The blue porcelain Ford badge is a repro part.

I bought a NOS ornament from Fred @ Southside Obsolete. Hopefully it will clue me in as to whether my grille shell is correct. Stay tuned.

It certainly looks to me like the nose has some rhinoplasty. Check the inside for evidence of hammer marks and welding.

Inside shows about the same evidence of past repair but doesn’t look like much.

More than enough to account for the poor fit of the die cast trim.

The NOS grille ornament does not fit any better than the Bob Drake one. Guess I am on the hunt for another grille that my NOS ornament will fit or just fit the ornament on there the best I can where it sticks out like the lesser of a sore thumb….

No I don’t have those skills but I am sure I can find someone to take my money and do it.

It can be difficult to find a commercial grille shell that won't require some level of repair work. If your current shell is nice down at the bottom end, I'd bite the bullet and have someone metalwork yours to fit the NOS ornament that you now have.

It does appear to be in good shape along the bottom although it does have some body filler. Not sure what the metal looks like underneath.

Update to all…I found another grille that is near mint; one small dent and some surface rust, no rusted out spots. Seller states it had been stashed away in an attic for several decades. My NOS ornament fit perfectly…actually had to twist it slightly to match grille shell.
