32-34 commercial exterior mirror
Looking for a source for a black steel mirror head for an original bracket. I have a picture of what it is supposed to look like but no luck. Seems like the suppliers only make a reasonable copy in chrome or stainless.

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
Tough to find a clean original, but there are repros of the black steel types maybe not FORD but you can modify the bolt threads to fit through the arm bracket, that's what I did. found a 4" round mirror on that auction site and made it fit.

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
The one you have is pretty close to original, except the threaded stud is longer and it had three small round head screws on the back of the mirror head close to the stud to permit adjustment of the tension. Unfortunately, I screwed up my photo files and I can't send you a photo of an original. (If you have the V-8 Club '32 book, it is shown on page 16-9.)

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
Bratto's shows this 3-screw 5 1/2" mirror in black for late A pickup...
http://www.brattons.com/uploads/imag...arge/24270.jpg Is it similar or the same? Parts book shows the B82 type assembly replacing an A equivalent, but lacks a number for just the mirror head. |

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
Perhaps as close as you'll get. About the only remaining difference is the recessed area on the back around the perimeter. The original was tapered right to the edge without a recessed area.

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
Thanks for all the insight.
I don`t need it to be exact but close. I was of the understanding that it was suppose to be 4" in diameter but the Brattons version is 5 " Can you measure yours 2935 ? |

Re: 32-34 commercial exterior mirror
hb32: what you show is very similar to what I have and mine has the 3 screws. Found/got mine from Dennis Carpenter @ Early Ford V8 meet in Dearborn a few years back. If you find a black one with screws, then your set; some newer(post WWII-early '50's) ones have phillips screws and just change screws to slotted.
