You have a fairly decent chance of recovering the T, as the thieves were primarily after the truck and trailer. Not a cause for celebration, but some hope there for you.

Probably get the truck too. Trailers usually have no title and can't be traced.

Hi all- just an update- the truck was recovered when two dirtbags attempted to burglarize a house using Don's truck and that's how the truck was recovered- but no info on the trailer or car yet. Seems the coppers booked the bad guys on the truck theft and the attempted burglary and then cut them loose with out trying to get info on the trailer and car- gotta love a system where the bad guys have rights but. . .
For a picture of the car and trailer logo you can go over to the MTFCA thread on the forum there. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages...tml?1467840240

thanks all- keep looking for us please.

GPS Trackers/locators are reasonably priced and readily available for anyone looking to make things somewhat more easily resolved and also to somewhat add a little peace of mind.

Just for information, once the police book someone, it's the judge that turns them loose. Do you know for a fact that the police did not try to find out were the trailer and speedster were located? If the crooks were read their rights at the time of arrest and exercised those rights, the questioning stops by the police. In today's world where everything is videotaped the police have to be super careful and not jeopardize the existing case/arrest. Like it or not it's the system and I spent 35 years working in it. You just can't step on their gonads to make them confess(even though it crosses your mind).

Maybe you can get their address from the booking records and hire some guys with "gonad modifying boots".

This thread raises a good question. Due to lack of shop space, I keep my 35 stored in my enclosed trailer. I always try to keep a vehicle parked in front of the trailer to deter theft but sometimes that's not always possible. I have the ball latched locked and am planning on buying wheel locks but I'm still nervous that some moron will find a way past these precautions and run off with my trailer/car. I have thought about installing an alarm on my trailer powered by a battery installed inside the trailer. A GPS tracker seems to be a better idea. My car's 6v +ground so I doubt there one I can install on the car. I could mount one on the trailer but that's only going to protect the trailer. Any suggestions?

I just saw an ad on TV yesterday for a GPS tracking device for your pet. It is so small that it attaches to the pet's collar and is able to be tracked via an app on your smart phone. The tracking device costs around $79 and there is a monthly fee for the tracking service. I am sure that there are other devices on the market...technology has come a long way since LOJACK

Charlie I wonder how this pet tracker would work inside our thick steel Fords? I have been thinking about a tracker for awhile. At some point I may try a local pet store and see if they would let me put it in the Ford to test it.

Jack up your trailer and remove the wheels on one side.

Why not use a tracker designed for car/trailer use in the first place?

I've converted several boat trailers to have a swing away tongue so they would fit in buildings; wonder why you couldn't do something similar; but take it off and into the
motel room with you.

I removed the coupler and welded in a receiver in its place to prevent our light plant and generator from taking a trip. Then welded a coupler on a 2X2 bar to fit in the receiver.

I just got this update from a friend in Albuquerque:-

The Model T speedster stolen in Albuquerque has been recovered and is awaiting its trip home to California. It was spotted by swap meet vendor Bruce Hartman early this morning as he was driving on Bobby Foster Rd. He notified the Albuquerque Police and Bernalillo County Sheriff. The car is now safe and undamaged. The trailer is still missing. It is great how the car community responded and watched for the car. Thank you to all who kept a lookout. Good show, troops! Joyce

I got a call from the police department about 7:30 this morning that the speedster was located. I was on the call list to pick up the car and/or trailer to avoid impounding charges. I hooked up my trailer and drove south of Albuquerque on I-25. The car was abandoned in an arroyo east of the Interstate just south of Rio Bravo and I-25. The officer took my identification and gave me the keys which were left with the car. It was in deep sand and hard to get my trailer lined up so I tried to start it. It started up just fine, oil pressure OK. I should have just drove it to a good spot to line the trailer but decided to turn it around and drive on the trailer. As luck would have it it died crossways in the sand and the battery did not have enough juice to turn it over. Since it has no crank I had to tow it a bit to line up with the trailer. Anyway, got it on the trailer and back to my house by 10 AM. There is no visible damage to the car. Don and Nancy Housman are really happy. Kirk

Does my heart good to hear it!

This is one of those "only in New Mexico" things. The truck they were towing the trailer with was recovered the next day (it was a late model Chevy as I recall ). Now the Speedster is recovered. To thieves here, the trailer is the valuable piece?!

Just put a Revelco Anti theft device on your truck and it cannot be taken without being towed! Period! Of course, if you park your truck and fail to remove the plug that totally disables the Ignition and fuel circuits, then it may be gone.
