Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
Hi Fellas
Been doing my research of how to adjust the steering box on my 30 coupe. Think I have a handle on it except the worm adjustment screw does not have a lock nut on it. Just want to check that I'm OK to remove it and refit it with a locking nut without turning a 5min job into a week long affair Thanks Pete

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
If it came with one it probably needs to be replaced. Count the turns and return it. you will most likely need to make changes anyway.

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
Just run the nut down over the inter screw, hold the screw with a driver

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
Does it have a hex head? Or a slot in it?

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
Thanks Fellas. I may be a tad confused. Its the adjustment on top of the box above the filler location. Large hex bolt. In the images I looked at was labeled as 'Worm Adjustment Screw'.

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
That loads and unloads the worm bearings. Unscrew it and add the nut, then screw it down per the Ford manuals to adjust. just don't allow the bearings to bind in full turns R&L.

Re: Model A Worm Adjustment Screw
Thanks fellas. I've gone trough the adjustment process as required just wasnt sure I could completly remove that adjuster to refit a lock nut without kicking off a chain reaction. Will do so and adjust again when done.
