Is there a source for 30-31 Model AA Truck front brake pin that goes through the kingpin? I measure and mine seem to be 8 5/8" long, and one is a little bent and I would like to get replacements. Do I have to make them? Are they hardened?

Also are drums available?

I haven't seen any of the brake pins for AA trucks. You might be able to find some NOS ones somewhere. Used may be your best bet. I've also never seen new manufactured drums available. You could look for NOS there too, but I don't know how lucky you would be in finding any. Where are you located? We have a large stash of truck running gear at my parents house. I'm sure I could find the pins quite easily.

Braze or weld them up and Shape as needed for correct operation.

The problem with the truck, I guess not enough demand for reproduction parts. I bought two spare rear axles and one front for that reason. Sorted through and picked best parts. Brake drums: find good used ones. Model A medic says max inside diameter is 14.10.

Thanks for the replies. I'm having some other issues with the brake pin length. They seem like that they're too long and the wedge doesn't travel enough.

There are no new tracks I assume either?

Are the backing plate bolts/nuts usually cottered? None of mine have cotter pins in them, and this is leading me to believe that someone at some point in 90 years swapped the front brake assemblies for something else.

I have a line on a front axle, but I'm in NJ so Eastern CT isn't too far away. Thanks for the offer!

I got another axle, and neither of them look like your picture. The shoes have the reinforcing plates welded at the pins, and my wedge bolt has a rectangular head, not a round head.

I saw that the wedge in the truck top hole was way too shallow compared to the spare axle wedge, and found a drawing and it's almost .200 too shallow.

The brake pins were the same 8 5/8" long.

With the brakes fully released, where is the wedge supposed to be? Fully up? Because it still will not get there with the brake activating rod rotated all the way forward. I even tried the other brake activating arm. The only thing I can think of is that the king pins aren't right. The backing plates seem right with a track part number of AA-2017.
