Default Gas gauge glass for 28/29

I have around 12 of these bubble gas gauge glasses. Only one of the 12 is vertical with 11 being horizontal. What is the difference?

If you have a plastic lens, then it's an older repro, and worth nothing.
If all yours are glass you are lucky to have found so many.

Steve, I used you gas gauge study as I had the horizontal glass in my Double A gauge, this told me when they last used them, which if I remember was May 29, the tank stamp is also May, it still had the paper gaskets, in addition my engine also has a May stamp.

I would really like to know the plant the truck was assembled, I am thinking now it was at the Rouge, this appears to be the only plant that built over 10.000 closed cabs in 29, which mine is above, the letters are not stamped well, do you think the May components indicate my thinking, any suggestions with help with this would be welcome.
Regards Brian.

I was making exact reproductions of the early shields a few years ago.
Don't forget to Nickle plate them before painting them, and please install them
in the correct direction...
