41 Pick Up - Chassis Engineering Leaf Spring Kit Question
Hi Guys,
1941 Ford Pick up. Installing a Chassis Engineering Rear Leaf Spring kit. Frame is pretty straight and square. Front and rear brackets from the kit are mocked up in the photos. Centerline distance between the front spring brackets is about 3" less than the rear brackets (see photos). Rear brackets are all the way inboard so it looks like they are designed like this. Is this normal and OK? I was expecting them to be parallel so the springs would be parallel. Thanks for the help! Leaf Spring Hangars.JPG Leaf Spring Hangar1.JPG |

Re: 41 Pick Up - Chassis Engineering Leaf Spring Kit Question
The CE kit does in fact run at an angle. it does not affect the ride in any way. I've installed several of these kits and it's a great design. Just for info the TCI kit also runs at an angle.

Yep, more of a trapezoid shape.

Re: 41 Pick Up - Chassis Engineering Leaf Spring Kit Question
One of the popular features of these kits (at least in their early years) is that several stock rear ends will bolt right in without any modification to their stock spring mounting pads. The Chassis Engineering components were well designed to accomplish this and not interfere with other components such as running boards, fenders, etc.. Picture is of a 1935 car frame which is largely the same as 1941 pickup in that area except for some body mounting brackets.
