Inside Inlet and Outlet
Does everybody just leave the insides unfinished after blasting? I don't think rust would be a problem with anti freeze right?

Re: Inside Inlet and Outlet
There is not a lot of point to painting the inside. After all, one does not paint the inside of the attached and adjacent engine block.
Paint can "dis-adhere" on a metallic surface and end up blocking radiator tubes in the upper radiator. And - to a certain extent - oxidation is an "electrochemical" process which when left to a small area will proceed "faster" at that area - hence the formation of rust pits on a least protected area. One may hasten a corrosion failure of one's block by painting/protecting everything else? Inlet and outlet connections have been re-popped and can be considered "disposable." Engine blocks not so much - yet. Joe K

Re: Inside Inlet and Outlet
Painting the inside of the block below the cylinder walls makes it slicker and allows the oil residue to flow more easily back to the sump in the oil pan. Some say that painting the insides holds in the heat and will cause the engine temperatures to rise . Most thought to be up grades will have a trade off of some sort . Probably the worse case scenario would be if the paint came off and stopped up oil passages or covered the screen on the oil pump .

Re: Inside Inlet and Outlet
I haven't tried painting the inside of any of my model A engines . I've read that some professional engine builders use red oxide rustoleum .
