Default Front Springs Question

I have 1 or 2 broken leaf springs on my 31 coupe so I'm going to order a new complete spring pack for the front. I'm building the car more or less like a late 40's or early 50's "hop up" or "go job" like they use to run back then. I'm thinking of going with the reverse eyed front springs that are suppose to lower the front 1 1/2".

Can I still run the original shocks with this reverse eyed spring? Also do I need a spring spreader to get the old springs off or the new ones on? If not is there another way? Is anybody running a reverse eyed spring and if so do you have any pictures so I can see how much of a difference it makes on lowering the front.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Spring spreader will work on original spring but not on reversed eye, as spreader pushes against the eye. Could try installing new spring on one side , slide piece of wood between axle top and other eye, lower car or raise axle, spring ought to :slide" so other shackle could be attached, haven't done it but should work. Shocks might/ might not work. Everything written says about 1.5 in lower.

Be sure to bevel the edges of the top leaf on new front springs. This lets the spring clear the round corners in the crossmember and sit flat.
