5000 Posts
5000 posts, and my 83 birthday, guess I've been around for a while.
I'd like to thank Ryan for letting me stay around for this long. One thing I learned while being part of this group is: Not all of your ideas are right. I started along time ago thinking only of preformance, and now it's economy, go figger. WE have allot of new comers here and my suggestion to them is watch the bucks. Most of the stuff you see and hear here cost allot of money and isn't really necessary. I realize the cost of doing business has increased over the years, buch you have to watch the bottom line. I hope I can help youse guys for alittle while longes, I keep learning more things from 65 years of mistake. God Bless and Keep em running. Ol; Ron |

Happy birthday Ron. Congratulations on your your 5000 posts. I came on Fordbarn in the year 2000. You were the first to volunteer to help me with my flatty. The help from you and others has taught me more than I could have imagined. I am now building my 52nd flathead and could not have done it without the help of guys like you. Thanks Bill

I hope you have a real real happy one, Ron. You have always made me feel like you are my number 1 fan of my travelogues. If you were the only one reading them I'd still do them just for you. I wish you were going with me to Alaska. What a ball we'd have. It's not too late, still three weeks away.

Have a Happy Birthday Ron and many more to you!! Just think how many of us you have helped in making those 5000 posts. I am sure with all the help you have given here and elsewhere, plus the many folks who have been helped by reading your book, you have helped change the course of history by bringing the Flathead back into focus. How many other 84 year old engine designs are still around today providing basic transportation and enjoying the popularity of our beloved Flathead Ford V-8? I can't think of another.

Many Happy Returns Ol' Ron. I always enjoy reading your posts. I looked up the names of famous people from Chester, Vermont. Found 3 politicians, 1 bureaucrat, 1 economist, 1 chemist, 1 Marine Corps general, and 2 preachers.
Somehow, they missed the machinists, engineers, mechanics, car racers, authors and philosophers. When they put you in the list, it will be complete. Have a Happy Birthday today and lots and lots more down the line.

Happy Birthday to you Ron up there in Chester VT. Keeping making those mistakes, because if you are not making any, you are not learning anything new.

Ron, I love to see your smiling face when I tune in. I followed your step by step procedure on my last rod bearings and have the best oil pressure ever. Keep up the good work, and Happy Birthday!

Re: 5000 Posts
Don't know how I missed this!!!!!
Sorry it's late Ron, I hope you has great day doing what you wanted to do. To say your an inspiration is an understatement, you are genuinely responsible for my passion with these engines. Yours was the first flathead book I bought. Early 90's some time, not that long been outa school. At the same Hot Rod show that I purchased your book, I traded my Model T roadster with four cylinder running gear, for a 52 Chevy!! That hiccup was fairly quickly dealt with, I traded it back for my old T. It's been Ford's ever since. It was your book that made my go back to Fords. And I'm very pleased I did. It's great to see your smiley face on here, as others mentioned, always makes me smile. One day I'll get over the pond, be good to meet you in person. Again, apologies for my lateness here. I wish you all the very best for many years to come. Martin. |

Happy Birthday Ron! As a newby I haven't done much on my truck, but you've already helped me a couple of times. Your book is truly a little gem. Thanks a million for being here and for so freely sharing your knowledge and wisdom with guys like me who have so much to learn.
