Default 59A Flathead Front Pulley

Hey fellas, I have a '39 Merc flathead with one of those spaced out two belt pulleys on the front of the crank. I can't for the life of me manage to get this thing off. Can anyone give me some advice?

If your not going to keep it after you take it off you can use a air chisel/air hammer and get it off. Or a slide hammer. If you are going to reuse it then you will have to make a puller.
You will also need to raise up the motor to get it out.

remove the crankshaft bolt, raise the engine for clearance, make/borrow a puller that will go under the outmost pulley, place a slug or very heavy/multiple washer into the hole in the pulley and use jack screw to back off the pulley. if you want to use heat--be sure it is used around the outside of the pulley or else it (heat) will bind it up even more

Or, do what I do-
Go under the car, using a dull chisel, find the shallowest angle behind the pulley. Go to one side of the pan a bit.
It's still a pretty steep angle.
Closest to the center, place the chisel back of the center of the hub, crosswise.
Hit with medium size hammer.
Optional: rotate crankshaft once in a while
Never had it fail, or ruin the pulley.

Hammering sideways on the cranksnout is an absolute no no...you can break it !
I use the same aproach as Karl.
Using a piece of flat iron lots of your favourite penetrating lube and if all else fails some heat.
If you just want to get rid of the outer shieve it´s attached with 3 big spotwelds to the center...could just grind them away and use the rest.
