Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Let us know how it works out. I take my wife every year to the Portland Swap Meet for our anniversary. It's dinner out every night and she gets to sleep in every morning. Been going to this meet for 23 years and she still likes to go.

Okay, enough of this nonsense. Before you know it, all wives will expect to go to "our" swap meets.

Taking your wife to a swap meet? Kind of in line with what my wife once told me : "Appliances are NOT gifts".

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
I offer to take my wife each year. Even before I can finish asking, she says, "No thanks."
Honestly, it's better off that way. LOL! |

Be advised, she might get quite soft and emotional with this. It will be an opportune time to suggest you and she maybe slipping in to the Hershey swap meet for a couple days. hehehe.

My wife even agreed to accompany me on a dump run...bless her heart!
I think she was curious to see where all the junk wound up.

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
My wife loves going to swap meets with me, and she's good value...quite often finds what I'm looking for. More eyes on the lookout certainly helps.

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
I must have married the right girl 35 yrs ago. She is always on the look out at swap meets ,for car parts and vintage things for herself. 12 miles a day at hershey and she was still on the hunt. At carlisle she found parts for our 54 I did not see.

Been married for 58 years, so I must be doing something right. She even goes along when I buy an old Ford. She did say once that it might be fun to go to Hershey.

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Hershey.........hmmm. You are all missing the point. What is Hershey? Think about it. It will come to you. C H O C O L A T E. What does a lady like, besides jewelry?
I agree with those that have the best lady -- one that will walk the 10 to 12 miles a day, carry their own backpack, and occassionally point out something that you missed. You can not beat that! And, if you have been walking Hershey for the past 15 years, you will notice that there are more and more booth vendors selling items for a lady. Five years ago she bought a real fancy dress for $20. Yes, the original store tag said $150, but it was $20. And yes, I had to take her to the big Halloween Ball when we returned home, but she was happy, I was happy and the trip was great. So, take her along. Make sure she has comfortable walking shoes. Take time to visit Hershey World. We haven't been together as long as some of you, but a little chocolate Kiss goes a long way. |

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Reminds me of when I got my Power Wagon. I always looked at Craigslist throughout the state and I found a guy selling Power Wagon parts as he was loosing his storage land. I asked my wife if she would be interested to go to Palm Springs. We had never been there. Of course she said yes, then I explained the slight detour on the way. No problem. I also found some parts on the way home near the Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Now that we have an RV, we have made several treks to places that are car related. Last trip to Oregon, stopped at SMS Auto Fabrics where I bought some original seat material for the 52 Ford. Taking trips to find car parts gets you to places you may not have seen normally. Great way to see the country.

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Old Redneck, I'll be on the lookout for you and your wife at Hershey this year to congratulate both of you on 62 years together....and hopefully many more!
Now in my case I did manage to get my wife to Hershey on one occasion in the early '70's. This was only a few years after we were married. That was the first and last time for her. She has never wanted to go to any old car events with me since then It may have been the year of the major flooding storms, or the knee deep mud....I'm not really sure

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Well I gota tell you guys, since I am no longer able to get up from the floor without some kind of help, my 80 yr old bride came to the shop & is helping me install bolts & nuts under my 34 so that I can get it back on the road. I had the fenders & bumpers off. She has changed the filter & oil & tranny filter (had to drop the tranny pan) on her Buick as I cannot use my hands above my shoulders, old injuries that never got repaired. She works cheap but needs a day off every so often to recuperate. pretty good for her age tho.
Guess I will have to take her Taco Bell for dinner, but we will use the drive thru menu. |

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Redneck I have to agree with you on that. We are still not in your class of 62 years as we are only on 50 years. I doubt if we will ever get there as I will be 89 in about a week. I'm not sure about doing another 12 or so years, although it is possible. Stranger things have happened.

I took my wife on a 300-mile round trip today to get 1942 Ford parts. I did buy her lunch. After 41 years I surprise myself how thoughtful I am,ha!

Re: After 62 Years taking wife on Honeymoon
Married for 47 1/2 years and mine respectfully declines my invitation and says, “have fun with the boys” …… my response, “yes, Dear” or even better, “as you wish” from
the movie, “Princess Bride”. Great flick, a cult classic really…… |
