Rear Motor Mount Variation
I just found a large crack in one of the rear motor mounts and plan to replace it. In going through several replacement mounts I notice that 1) some are 1/8 inch longer than others, which may make installing the engine more difficult and 2) there appears to be a difference in the placement of bolt holes relative to the top and bottom surface of the mounts, which suggests that there is a left and right motor mount. The latter situation is clear when mating the mount to a clutch housing: in one orientation the mount fits flush with projecting boss on the clutch housing but flipping it around leaves 3/16 - 1/8 inch gap between the upper surface of the mount and the resting surface of the clutch housing boss.
Has anybody noticed this variance? is there a left and right mount? |

https://www.fordgarage.com/pages/are...nebrackets.htm I wouldn't hesitate to weld a cracked mount as long as it still has all the structural parts. It's not uncommon to find them cracked. The frame likes to bend there too under hard use. |
