Model B Carburetor Details
I am working through a 5 gallon bucket of Model B carburetors accumulated over the years and surprised at the variations that deviate from what I thought was original. This includes:
B-1 upper castings mated to B-2 lower castings, some with round floats and some with rectangular floats. Some lower castings have a shelf in the float bowl and some do not, such that round floats are suspended in float bowls with a shelf and rectangular floats are suspended in a float bowl with no shelf. What is correct for these carbs as originally produced, i.e. B-1 carbs with round float and pinhole idle port versus B-2 carbs with rectangular float and slotted idle port and the subsequent variations throughout the post Model B era. Or, does any of this matter and a mix-and-match mating of castings is OK? |

Re: Model B Carburetor Details
You need to get the excellent manual "Restoring The Model "A" and "B" Carburetors - The "Rex" Reheis Way". It covers carburetor design, operation, jet flow data and repair tools. Ed

What I’m looking for is information about the functional compatibility of the upper and lower castings and floats. |
