Default Radiator repairs and strengthening for pressure. Mart's 41 pu get's it's Rad fixed.

Hello. Welcome to a new video from Mart's Garage. This week I tackle a problem with my radiator. It's been running too high a pressure and has bowed the top tank. Follow along as I not only fix the leaks, but add strengthening ties to better contain the pressure. The problem was caused by a faulty pressure cap, overpressuring the system, but as this rad was not originally built to be pressurised, I still added the ties. Ok, enough yakkin, let's get on with it!

Thanks for watching and taking an interest. Mart.

Mart, the radiator in my '40 has the exact problem as yours did. Top has been modified like yours causing the tank to expand and contract due to no internal supports to contain expansion. The result over years is metal fatigue and cracking. I may use your technique, as your result is quite nice.

Mart, Nicely done!
Always enjoy your en devours in the garage.
There's an old Pennsylvania Dutch saying that I think applies here;
"She ain't much for lookin', but she's hell for stout"!
Keep up the good fight...

I enjoyed your video. I like your torch. I don't use one very often but it looks easy to use compared to the bottle type.
