Subframe Question
I've been reading and researching about A's. New to an A build. I have a chassis. If at some point I need to build a sub frame (sub rails) Is it fitted to the frame and then the body is fitted to that? I would best to buy new if needed I assume. Where is a source ?

Re: Subframe Question
Sub frame belongs to the body, body with sub frame then bolts to chassis.

Re: Subframe Question
It also depends on the body you want. Fordors, cabriolets, station wagons and a few others used wood for sub rails. Roadsters, tudors, & coupes mostly used steel sub rails with wood blocks to mount to the frame.
Steel subframe parts are available from model A parts sources. Roadster bodies are about the only ones that are reproduced as complete body shells. Wood body parts are available from a few sources but that can get expensive if you want a station wagon. Some guys build depot hack type bodies that are non original to Ford. Those types were usually built by aftermarket body companies back in the day. |

You can buy an assembled body or individual panels. All interchange with original bodies. |
