62 f250 brake parts
Rehabbing a 292, 4 speed f250 with the 8 lug setup. Rear drums are empty. I can find wheel cylinders and shoes, but cannot for the life of me find the spreader bar/strut for the top of brake shoes. Springs and such, even adjusters are out there, but no strut/spreader. Can't even find a decent pic of the setup to try and mock up a spreader out of steel bar. Does anyone have an old rear end laying around for at least a decent pic, or parts for sale?

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
What is your rear brake size (Shoe DIA X W)?

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
Sorry, been elbow deep in a Gran Torino, and haven't been online much. Lemme pull drums off and measure. They are literally all I have to start with.

HOLD ON!
If original rear (1962 F250 DANA 60), shoe size should be 12.125 x 2.

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
You ain't gonna believe this one. FORD has a mis-print in its period ILL catalog whereas they show the front brake ILL for both front and rear. When you go to the parts list it shows a spreader for a HT.

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
Below is the PARTS LIST if the truck still has the OEM setup-
OK... Correct PN's are- C1TT 2A642-B (RH) C1TZ 2A642-A (LH) If you GOOGLE the PN's, you should come across them. This is a BENDIX brake setup so it may be easier to find in BENDIX. Source is 1957-63 TRUCK MPC

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
Why thank you sir. I have been away from this project and finally got logged back in here. Still hunting. May end up having to swap out both front and rear, as no one seems to have this available. One more trip to a salvage yard and I'm gonna pull out of trying to piece this old rear end back together.
I have seen you offer tons of help to others in these forums, and really appreciate all the input. Kudos to you for sharing your resources and knowledge. |

Re: 62 f250 brake parts
While the lever arms are considerably different in length between 12" and the more more common 11" brakes; the cross links are almost identical in length. Maybe something to consider in your parts search.
