Re: old dragsters
Paul Aldridge was a guy who had a huge passion about our East Coast Hot Rodding heritage. Here's some history about the two rails the Banister brothers dragster is the second rail the guys are moving in the video.
The original frame for this rail was actually found in a scrap pile at the Orange Mass airport. Drag races were held at Orange back in the 50's this rail is known to be the first supercharged Ford flathead rail to run on the East Coast. The history of the Banister brothers is very interesting they both lived in Massachusetts . The built a channeled Ford flathead powered Deuce roadster that they ran at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 1950. To do this one brother drove the roadster and the other brother drove a Ford sedan I think it was 40. The race engine for the roadster was in the back seat of sedan. At Bonneville they changed engine's in the roadster ran the car with the race engine and changed engine's once again for the trip back to Massachusetts. The Banister brothers roadster was found and has been restored exactly as it was built in 1949. The pink dragster is a clone of the Excalaber this rail was originally build by Dave Jackson in the 50's to run at the airport runway drags which gave guys from the East Coast a place to race. This also helped develop Hot Roding here on the East coast so long ago Dave is also from Massachusetts. These guys were true pioneers of what continues to this day. The history about the Banisters brothers and others from this era has been documented in a great book written by the Scuman brothers titled Cool Cars and Square Roll Bars. Ronnieroadster

Re: old dragsters
I was really confused until I figured out that "This Old Hot Rod" was the name a "YouTube" channel. It would have helped if the O/P had at least enclosed the channel name in quotes. I found the channel, but can't find the exact video. For those of us with no desire to get into the social media morass, a link would have been helpful.
Hell, I'm not sure I'm in the right place yet. Too bad, because this is the kind of thing I like. |
