Default Coker Bias Look Radial Tires?

I was curious if anyone has seen, or better yet, any experience with the Coker bias look radial tires. I want a decent ride but don't want the radial tire look on my 35.

Thanks!

I've been running the Coker 600x16 radials (that resemble bias-ply) for around four years, on my '39 CS. First I ran them with tubes but now, I'm running them tubeless on the stock wide five rims. They improved the ride and handling of the '39 CS to the point that I will never go back to bias-ply, at least on that car.

I put the Coker's on last May and I'm really happy with them. Of course it's not like the radial ride on my modern day Mercury, but there was a huge improvement over the bias. I like them ! Expensive though !

I know it's probably just me but.....I went back to the tubeless bias after running the radials for 10 yrs. Just feels more like 1953.

Plus the radial WW's were an inch or so too narrow.

Actually you are not alone re preference for bias - I ran radials on my 66 Big Block Corvette (sorry non Ford) and went back because I actually enjoyed the period correct look and feel of bias ... better than radials - no - but appreciated the complete original feel and look for what it was and is. I run bias on the current 35 Coupe and like them alot - also ran bias on my 39 Coupe 10 years plus with never a regret - just preference - how your drive and what experience one wishes to emulate.

Hey Dennis,
I agree with Vic on this subject and I've been using same tires for 10 yrs, and would not willingly switch back.

I've had Coker bias ply 600/16s on my '47 for several years. They don't "flat spot", and ride fine. My only complaint was two of the four were so out of round they had to be sent back. After a ration of crap with their rep, they agreed to send new ones. They claimed I just didn't know how to properly mount them. After 60 years, I told them I had probably mounted more then they have.

Arrow Re: Coker Bias Look Radial Tires?

Yeah...the one thing Coker should work on is their CS.

When I ordered the Tubeless WW bias they insisted I needed new wheels.
Almost refused to take the order, had to wait 'til they confirmed that my OEM wheels were compatible.
I appreciate their concern but not the combative attitude on several phone calls.

Just to add to the conversation, in addition to the 600x16 radials I have on the '39 CS, I'm running radials on my '47 Convertible with 15 inch Merc rims, my '51 F-1 and my '53 F-100 Panel Truck. I've put original style 700x16 bias-ply white walls on my '39 Lincoln Zephyr because it had a set of 15 inch '48 Lincoln rims with G78x15 radials mounted on it when I got the car, and I never liked the way it handled. The bias-ply (6 ply) on the Zephyr give it a nice ride and the handling is excellent. I should add that I do a lot of highway driving with all the vehicles and in most cases, I do prefer the radials.

My '47 came with new G78-15 Coker Classic polyester bias tubeless with 3.25 inch wide whitewalls on Merc rims. Nice tire; don't flat spot during storage; don't lose air; handle nicely; they sit/look nicely. They may tend to naturally try to follow certain edge ridges in blacktop pavement surface depressions but that's certainly not a big deal. Coker's current price for these are $155 ea plus 107 shipping to my location. I know radials would handle/ride better but these are absolutely fine for now. These only have 2000 miles on them and if I wear them out in my life time I'll try radials.
