Default 28 touring top fabric repair?

Does anyone have any ideas what the best thing to do with the original top on my uncles 28? I don't want to restore the car I like the way it looks! I took the top off to drive the car the fabric is real bad in some spots he glued on ugly black plastic fabric years ago it's still holding. I would like to patch it up like they did years ago. The car is running nice and we have been driving it quite a bit but the hot sun bothers my uncle, any where that would sell the fabric by the foot? Or better ideas?

That top looks way beyond patching.
There comes a time when sometimes you need to replace rather than patch.

Yes Tom I know it's rough but the sides are still strong, my uncles old rear patch is holding, I wouldn't mind patching it like that only with something that looks more like it was done years ago

How about regular closed car top material glued on. I think the vendors sell this by the foot.

It appears to be Way, way beyond repair. Put the top down and buy iumbrellas for everyone. There is a time when cheap, cheap is not practical. Wayne.

I would take a piece of canvas and dope it on with glue (a good rubber cement),-sort of like the wings on early aircraft. color it up with shoe polish and shinola!

As seen on TV, that looks like a job for FLEX-SEAL.

They could even use your car as a testimonial.

Railway carriages here used Malthoid on the roof. It would give the look.
It is stuck down with horrible black tar stuff.

Might need canvas underneath as it is fairly soft.
