Head stud location help.
I’m close to bolting my head down this weekend and was prepping bolts when I noticed a couple of different length shoulders and studs in the pack. I did some hunting and couldn’t really find a location chart and I didn’t take note when I removed the old studs on length etc.
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction so I don’t fumble the stud location ? The top bolt in the photo is a quantity of ten in the pack the two lower bolts are the ones in question obviously the longer bolts are water neck so they aren’t photographed. |

Re: Head stud location help.
the same two sizes are for water neck to head and the longer one is number 8 to hold the cable to distributor if using the bracket..

Re: Head stud location help.
You should have only one of the longer bolts in your picture for the ignition cable like Gary mentioned. You should have eleven 3 1/2" studs
one 3 3/4" and the two long for the water outlet. |

Re: Head stud location help.
Who did you buy the studs from?
I only remember 2 sizes from my high compression upgrade. |

Re: Head stud location help.
The one with the longer coarse threads is not a head stud. Either made wrong or wrong application. At second thought, it’s the correct length, just has too many coarse threads. I suppose you could use it. Just set it at the proper height and you’ll have threads in your head. Don’t think that would hurt anything.
