Default 1958 Ford Custom & Custom 300 Sales Brochure. Print Date 9-57

1958 Ford Custom & Custom 300 Sales Brochure. Print Date 9-57
Does any Ford Barner have a copy of this early Sales Brochure that they could Scan at 300 DPI and email me the pages?
I have a similar brochure with the Print Date 3-58, but would like Scans of this earlier 9-57 Print Date for my Files.

These two 1958 Ford Customs were never released.
They appeared in the original Sales Brochure dated 9-57 but were never released.
Ford hastily released a revised Sales Brochure dated 12-57, then issued a Third updated Sales Brochure dated 3-58.
Has anyone got this original 9-57 Brochure featuring the Base Ford Customs that they can scan for me?

I am very familiar with the Old Car Brochure Web Site, but they do not show this early brochure with the print Date 9-57. Regards Mercman <><

If the car was listed as a TUDOR BUSINESS SEDAN (70D) (no rear seat - fixed quarter windows), there were only 4,062 released. That would explain most likely why no one remembers seeing one.

It was cataloged including FINAL ISSUE MPC.

1958 Ford Custom 300 Business Sedan.
I think that this is the model that KULTULZ is referring to with sales of 4,062 units?
Notice the absence of a back seat in the above illustration?

No, I was thinking it was the one with the trim level being discussed.

Shot down that theory, back to the drawing board ...

Base model 1958 Ford Custom Tudor & Business Sedan from the first issue 1958 Ford Custom & Custom 300 Brochure.
This picture is from the Brochure that I am chasing Scans of.
I don't think that Ford would have sold 4,062 units of this model, as I have doubts that it was ever released?

Message from Ford dated 9/57 stating that it has the right to discontinue models at any time.

No, you're right. I thought it was the answer but obviously not.

But the trim level is cataloged and shown in the ILL SECTION but the BODY TRIM LEVELS (70) in the MPC are not that exact.

Let me work on this.

Cover of the 1958 Ford Custom 300 Brochure - Revised 10/57
Notice that there is no mention of the Base Custom model.
It merely lists the Custom 300 range

Just curious, is there a body code listing for it? Or something in a parts book, shop manual.

Yes. I have them above in this thread but so small it is hard to read.

There were three BODY CODES (70), so there were three different trim levels offered.

These are the EXT TRIM LEVELS shown in the BODY/EXT TRIM SECTION of the MPC -

70A (1958) - CUSTOM "300" - TUDOR SEDAN
70B (1958) - CUSTOM "300" - TUDOR SEDAN (Optional Interior Trim)
70D (1958) - CUSTOM "300" - BUSINESS TUDOR

73A (1958) - CUSTOM "300" - FORDOR SEDAN
73B (1958) - CUSTOM "300" - FORDOR SEDAN - Optional Interior Trim

The Body Codes 70 and 73 listed above are for the upper level Custom 300.
As it appears that the base Custom models were never released, was there a Body Code number issued for these models?

All three trim levels were catalogued as CUSTOM "300", both 2DR and 4DR.

FINAL EDITION 1964 and REVISED SEP 1960 EDITION both show the DISCUSSED TRIM LEVEL as being 70A.

The TRIM level being discussed was also offered on the RANCH WAGON and RANCHERO.

You would need a 1st 1958 QUARTER EDITION of the 1949/1959 MPC to see exactly how they were cataloged originally.

I don't know or can/can't say whether the TRIM LEVEL was or was not not built, but from what I see in the MPC is that it was at some point.

If it was a misprint or error in printing (MPC - initial printing), it surely (don't call me Shirley) would have been caught and corrected before FINAL ISSUE.

My inability to properly post images correctly doesn't help as others can't see what I see (which may be a blessing to others).

What has to be realized is that these brochure illustrations come from an art department.

OH!

Forgot what I was going to say ... damn CRS ...

Remembered ...

The BODY TYPE CHART shows 70A, 70B and 70D (TUDOR).

The EXT TRIM ILL only shows 70A as the trim level being discussed. The other two ILL's (3 in total - TUDOR) show only 70 with no ALPHA CHARACTER behind them.
