It doesn't look like a 40 Ford one to me. Those half moon cutouts on the bottom don't look familiar to me.

I cannot believe that in this cast of thousands, an expert has not identified this. Could it be a Mercury ?

I think it's 40 Merc, I'll check one of mine. By process of elimination it's 40 Merc, all pre 1940 Fords have a shift tower hole, too big for 40 Ford, that leaves 40 Merc. The Lincolns are radically different.
