Default good guy license plate restoration

i purchased a tag from tagdr.com online store and then had it restored by them to use on my A as a yom plate. i must say i was very happy through out the whole process and with the finished product. rod's online store has plates available from most states, and i felt it was easier just buying an old tag from him and then he would know exactly was was needed for the restoration, and also to give me an accurate price. here are some pics of before, blasted and finished.

Looks great!

Did you clear the number beforehand, or did you just get lucky?

bill,
you can use yom plates restored or old, it just has to be legible and if your car already has an antique tag its just a 75.00 quick app fee and send them a pic of the new tag

I wish we could do that in Massachusetts - DOT won't let us use restored yom plates. Further, the DOT leaves it up to the vehicle inspection station to decide which plates (in weathered condition) are acceptable. But the first question I got when I asked at the inspection station was whether DOT had said that the plate was ok. My tax dollars at work. I'd think that careful restorations that look as nice as Mitch's plate would be a fine option, but "no."

In N.H. it looks like they're not even running the plate any more.I used to hand it over when they certified them, they would carry it behind the counter and make sure nobody was using the mate.Back when they were issued every year the numbers were re-issued every year.Every other year was a different color. They would alternate between white and green. The last few sets I had certified got a look from the girls behind the counter, with something like, that's a nice old plate. There could be a couple dozen plates out there with the same number, just different years. They did tell me that they were not run against the numbers on modern plates.Just too much difference in them. The DOT officer told us that if we were involved in a high speed chase or a bank robbery and somebody got the number they could narrow it down from a half dozen plates bearing the same number pretty fast.
