Default Determination or Sheer Ignorance?

Do ya'll ever get into a project and you think maybe you've bitten off more than you can chew. I've got to have the Model A back up and going by May 17 for a club function. Before then I've got to find and replace the front crossmember, install new front springs, replace one fender brace, install new wiring harness, install new burlington crank, fit an original but different set of front fenders to the car, work out the all the kinks and get it all put back together. This is in addition to working a real job. It should be interesting. I might have to call in the calvary.

You certainly will have your hands full. I'm sure that with enough determination and some extra helping hands that you can get 'r done. You should list each step and determine the order that things need to be done so you don't have to take any steps backward.

I wish you well. Keep us informed of your progress, but only after you sit down for a much deserved rest. Don/WI

I know what word you meant but this did give me a chuckle. Sometimes calling in the Divine one for a little intervention is NOT a bad thing!!

My suggestion for you to is to make a 'punch list' of all the tasks you need to accomplish to meet your goal. Then assign a start date and a finish date on a calendar for each of those tasks. Just like eating a 5 course meal, pace yourself and take small bites. Be realistic and reassemble some things as-is for another time after your deadline date. For example, why do the new fenders need to be done now? Focus on the new front crossmember and getting the engine operational. Use the wiring harness as "if time allows" task. Same thing with fenders.

Brent, I just caught that. I'll probably need to call in the cavalry and call on the one who died on Mt. Calvary before it's finished. You're probably right, I need to make a list and treat it like triage. Do the most important things first and let the rest wait until after the event.

It's possible... I feel your pain. By June 6th I have to have my speedster done... I still have to finish the body work and paint it. I just started on my chassis last week. My motor and tranny are done. I've got to get the rear end ready, paint it. Build the front end and paint it. Paint the frame rails. And get it all together and drive it to Austin in June. Plus I'll be gone for 9 days when we drive the sedan to Michigan in May... Ohh and I work, and go to school full time. Good luck to you, it can be done. But not without late nights, and early mornings.

It's just like a big pile of dirt and a small bulldozer, all I can do is one scoop at the time.

I would stay away from this message board too. It eats up way to much time!

Ok guys, the deadline has been tossed. I would like to personally thank the person that coined the phrase mushroom effect. That's the two words I think every time I find that one more thing that has to be fixed since I'm this far in. Status update, front crossmember is ready to go in, front axle has been removed from the car and front spring removed ready for new spring. Steering column has been romoved to clean frame behind it. My steering column obviously has never been taken out because it looks like original cotter pins in the bolts and pitman arm. Fortunately, the stress of finishing by May 17th is gone. If it's done great, if not, I'm having fun. At the end of the day, that's what this hobby is all about. Til later.
