Default Hobart Welder Question

I'm getting ready to start welding in some patch panels and realized that the welder I purchased doesn't have the right size drive roller for thin wire.

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement drive roller for a Hobart Handler 140 ?

Should be able to pick one up at Lowes Tommy. I believe I had seen them there for .023 wire and .035 wire.

I have a 175 Hobart, and all you do is turn the wheel around. It has both grooves.

I have a Hobart 140 that I bought to do Model A patch panels. It will use .024 to .035 wire right out of the box. I have found that the .030 wire and Argon gas works great for Model A patch panels. Better read the instruction manual on set up.

I have a older Lincoln so not sure of the Hobart setup but your welds will be much better and easier if you use the shielding gas (argon) rather then the flex core wire these units come with.

I thought the welder was supposed to have the drive roller that you can turn around for the .024 wire, but it actually came with 2 grooves for .030 wire.
One groove is smooth and the other has notches.

That is strange. I would call the Hobart tech line 1-800-322-3281. Scan is from my Hobart 140 instruction manual showing drive wheel.

Here is what I think is going on Tommy. Your drive roller is for both .030 flux core wire (the V-Knurled groove) and for regular mig wire (the smooth V-groove) unlike mine which is just for the Argon/CO2 mig wire. I like .030 wire for Model A patch panels.

My 2007 Hobart instruction book shows a Dual groove V-smooth drive roller #202 925 (which my 140 welder came with) for .023/.025 and .030-.035 in wire. An accessory drive roll #202 926 was listed as Dual groove, V-knurled for .035 and .045 flux core wire.

This is the same as my manual. That's why I didn't think I'd need a different roller. But my roller is clearly marked .030-.035 on both sides.

I'll call Hobart.

Thanks, Tommy-
