Default 31 coupe patch panel

I am installing a patch panel on the lower portion behind the doors. My question is how do I handle the area around the wooden door posts? I don't want to take them out to weld the patch panel. Can I just not weld where it wraps around the wood and maybe just fill the seam with lead?

Thanks for the input. I'm a weekend body guy so I've got lots to learn!!

Slide a piece of thin copper between the wood and the patch panel and weld it up. Worked for me!

or if the section around the wood is still good cut the patch at the point of the last good metal bit and weld the seam there..
