Best Electric Fuel Pump?

I’m going to be installing a downdraft on the banger and I know that an electric fuel pump and pressure regulator will be needed. There is a lot of crap out there these days and I like to stick to the best stuff. I’m looking for suggestions on what to buy.

Re: regulator, take a look at the Malpassi Filter King. On the expensive side, but excellent reputation. Officially sold only in Europe but commonly available via eBay. Replaces the stock fuel filter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/282201577884

I was using the Carter fuel pump offered by the Model A vendors until it failed. I then went to O"Rileys and bought one off the shelf. It has outlasted the Carter and is still going strong.

I run 4 Model As, all with fuel pumps feeding down draught carburettors, all on 12 v. I go to a Subaru wrecker and buy one of their fuel pumps from a carburettor model car. They are becoming fewer and fewer because carburettors are not used these days but they are available. I've never had one fail. There is no need for a regulator because they ae designed for carburettors.

I haven't used this, my car is stock, but I had the URL saved for some reason.

I see it is out of stock and I can't tell if it is 6V or 12V. Maybe a Barner is also a VW hotrodder and has some ideas on other pumps?

Since most electric fuel pumps are designed for 12 volt systems, what happens when one is installed in a 6-volt system. If it runs at 3 PSI on 12 volts, does it run at 1.5 PSI on 6 volts?

I've read that the 12 volt pumps work on 6 volts, but never read anything about the pressure.

Try an Airtex E8902. It's 6 volt 30GPH delivered at 2.5 -4.5 psi, which will work with the Stromberg or Holley downdrafts without a regulator. If you want a regulator to make certain of your delivery pressure under all conditions, use the Holley variable regulator that is adjustable from 2 to 8 or 10 psi. They are far more reliable than the small disc-shaped regulators also commonly used that are sold by Holley. I have two cars with Airtex pumps and they are reliable and quiet.

I use Holley pumps and Aeromotive bypass regulators.

Holley has several grades of pumps.
The common dead head (no return line) regulators will not hold set pressure continually at full throttle.

Bottom line, the company went bankrupt and the company that bought them is not making them anymore.

But will any of them run on 6 volts?

I am running a K&N, available in 2 psi or 4 psi if you want to run a regulator which I do. Perfect pressure for a 97 or other low pressure carb.
