Default For those of you who feel like praying, one of our vendors is in trouble!

Many of y'all know Jim Adams (Fordbarn member modela-carb ) and possibly have a carburetor he has rebuilt on your Model-A. I have some sad news to share.

Jim stopped by my shop two weeks ago and was joking about him getting old and now he has started to forget stuff at times and he had spoken with his Dr. because he was worried about getting Dementia. Later that day he received a phone call that no one ever wants to receive saying he needs to have additional tests done immediately as they have found what appears to be a brain tumor. Last week Jim and his wife Rose met with a surgeon and a biopsy was taken. The news from this was not good. Jim came by my shop again this past Thursday and we discussed "life", and his options. Jim is an ex-Marine and a strong physical man, ...but this one is tryin' to kick his tail with the time period of his life expectancy being measured now in months!

If you know Jim, I am sure he would like to hear from you with words of encouragement. If you don't happen to know Jim personally, I feel sure he would covet any prayer or encouraging thoughts you care to offer him.

Thanks everyone.

Will be praying for him for sure. Surviving cancer is possible. Finding out you have cancer is life changing and it will test you to the core in ways you have never thought possible. Rod

After 9 months of cancer treatments my daughter is in remission. Cancer is a brutal disease. We have survived this for now and it is our most sincere wish that Jim beats this.

I know this to be true. I do not know Jim Adams, but if I were speaking with him I would encourage him to focus on doing whatever can be done to get that tumor out and to live life to the fullest each and every minute. He and his wife will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My prayers are definitely with Jim and his family. I lost my father/best friend to this accursed disease.

There are no "Ex-Marines", only those waiting on Uncle Sam's call to arms.

I'm adding Jim to my prayer list also. Just found out my son's F/in law has about 6 mo this after being C/free for about a year after a 1 1yr battle.
God Bless them all.

Just as there have been many advances in the automotive industry, medicine has been improving also. During a yearly exam and a diligent doctor, I received the bad news of a brain tumor (acustic neuroma) in 1998. My wife did quite a bit of research and found a new procedure (at that time - now fairly common) that would possibly save my life and reduce the possibility of facial paralysis, and other bad things. We found a surgeon in Pittsburgh that was trained in the new procedure and after an 8 1/2 hr surgury and many wonderful doctors and nurses, I am alive and kicking today. I credit many prayers from prayer chains from various denominations (denominational walls wonderfully break down when the need is great). A great personal attitude is also important and having friends there to assist in daily needs makes recovery much easier. Our prayers are extended to Jim and family and the physicians who will be there for the procedures necessary.

This is not as simple as an oil change - it is a complicated situation, but there is hope for recovery and meaningful life after. I can tell you that you will hug your children and grandchildren a little tighter after going through something like this. You are more consious of making each day count for something. I'm very greatful that FordBarn is more than nuts and bolts - its about the fellowship of people of similar interests.

A friend was diagnosed with stage 4 a few years ago and given months to live. She is now in remission and dating again. It was a very hard road, but she did it. Hearing he is an Marine makes me believe he will fight this hard.

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up Brent. Jim did both the carbs on my Model-A's and they both run better (a lot better..) because of it. He and his family will most definitely
be in my prayers!
