Default 40 rear spring removal

Maybe this has been covered before but I still have some questions. I am going to remove the rear spring. I don't have a spring spreader or porta power and I'm not sure I want to use one if I did. I understand that I can disassemble the spring and remove it that way using c- clamps. Can somebody give me a little direction before I have flying spring leaves? Thanks.

Try contacting a local Early Ford V8 Club Chapter and see if they have one to loan (or maybe rent if you are not a member).
