Default vendors for a complete bed assembly

I'm going to soon need to purchase a complete bed assembly. My '41 when it was somewhat completed, then stored, never made it to the bed restoration. I'm new to this era Ford and aren't sure what vendors are out there.
Thanks in advance.
Randy

Mack products is were i have gotten all my pieces, but never bought a complete bed. They make nice stuff. Dont confuse them with MACs . Different business

Northern classics made a ton of nice stuff but have gone out of business and i was told mid west early ford got some of the dies and is making some stuff.

Northern offered a complete floor for the cabs that was incredible and when they closed i was told that all the dies for the one piece floor was scrapped!???

As I said in another thread, it's hard to beat Mack Hills in Missouri. Their repro beds replicate the stock beds perfectly. My 32 bed was shipped assembled as I felt the extra expense was worth it as I have no one to help me.

I bought a bed from Macks for a 1955 F100 and it fit fine. I purchased an incomplete 1939 Ford PU that had a new repo Mack bed and I have no complaints about it either.

Let me chime in here on this topic. Mack Hills does indeed offer a wonderful, fully built, box. It's well built and duplicates the original. Mack Hills also offers every individual box component from the basic structure which bolts to the frame right through to side panels, tailgate, box sides, etc. The odd part is that they offer no assembly instructions whatsoever. They make this clear in their catalogue and on the phone. I ordered a complete box IN PIECES for a 33/34 pickup thinking i would save money, save on freight and "well, how hard can this be to assemble a box""? Let me assure you - it's a huge undertaking.. Without a 100% complete old box to stare at, measure multiple times, at every step, and re-measure again, it can be virtually impossible! There are dozens of rivets to position(holes not marked), and even to guess which of the many pieces to grab and place when building the various bed structure components is significantly tougher than solving a Rubix cube. Do yourself a favour - buy a pre-made box!

I have used one of Mack Products beds and found it top-notch. Here is their web address.

Thanks Ron. I was wondering about that. I've found a couple of vendors, but wasn't aware of Macks. I've requested their catalog. There website really didn't have any specifics. I'll have to get with my body shop and see what they charge for assembly and paint vs. just paint and then the difference in freight charges.
Anybody dealed with Heinz Street Rod. http://www.heinzmanstreetrods.com

I have always wondered if Mack Products didn't get their beds from Mack Hills? They sure loot like the exact same thing with Mack Hills being the primary manufacturer? Also Heinzman Street Rods has been in business for a long time and are currently doing good work. John and I have been competitors in the Hot Rod chassis business for almost 40 years with each one of us have our own style. We're only 100 miles apart.

The bottom of the Mack Products webpage says it IS Mack Hils. So one and the same.

I really appreciate the suggestions. I'm not looking for anything special, but I only plan on doing this once. I wish there was someone in the southest, I'm in NC, that had one.

I agree Mack Hils makes a fine bed for many years of pickups. The rubber mat is just to protect from scratches when hauling more than my trunk in the bed.
Cheers, Byron

Hello all. I've inquired with Macks and Joe at Joe's Antique parts about a bed assembly and they are both having to check with the supplier for lead time and availability. Does anyone know who the source is? I've also seen a couple of other vendors that say they ship straight from the manufacture. I'm trying to get one as close as possible to save on the freight charges.

Its not Macks, it's Mack Products. They are not the same company. Leave off the 's'. (Mack Hills and Mack Products are the same.)

Randy,
Call Mack-Hils Products direct at this number; (660) 263-7444. They are the manufacturer. Mack products and Mack-Hils are one and the same.
