Default Ford blue

This has probably been asked dozens of times but I couldn't find it.

Is there a reason for Ford using blue as his trademark? I know why Richard Petty used the blue color that he did but never heard the why's for Henry.

I just thought that there was possibly a story behind using blue, like being cheaper to use than red or some story like that.

Back in the day, I think Blue was a sign of Royalty. Some think it's Washington Blue; others think it might be another Blue Ford color.
