Mart, Charlie, Thanks. Don't know what to say about accelerator pump, it squirts and is on #2 hole. Other than changing holes on the linkage I don't have any ideas on what changes are reasonable.

I'll squirt some fuel around the shaft when its running, see if I can find a vacuum leak, I didn't notice it being terribly worn before but maybe I missed it. I have a 1" spacer under the carb that I was planning to use for an PCV, I have it capped now but will connect a vacuum gauge to it, see what it reads and report back.

Spray some carb cleaner around to find any leaks, engine will pick up speed.

SK,
Please LOOSE the spacer at least for now. That carb wants to get HOT as quick as possible. Hole #2 works just fine 99.8% of the time.

Charlie, Will do. I gotta ask why? It seems counter-intuitive, what's the secret? For the last two years I've been reading threads about the carbs getting heat-soaked and causing problems.
Thanks.

SK,
Hot within bounds. If you have reason to believe you are bordering on 'vapor
lock' my recommendation is to add a 2nd carb to intake gasket. The spacer is OK
for performance motors but may be adding an unwelcome wrinkle to your vexing
current situation.

At 4500', you should need no more than 48 main jets. There is something else wrong if you can run with 59 jets. Like Charlie said, maybe a vacuum leak? What about ignition advance?

I removed the 1" spacer and installed the 49 jets, better but not right. Installed an electric pump and noticed my fuel pressure gauge was suddenly intermittent. This lead me to the pressure regulator and when bypassed truck starts and drives well, still needs some tweaks. So I had excessive fuel leaking from the power valve and intermittent fuel starvation from the pressure regulator. I hope the remaining adjustments will be easier. I don't have a theory for why the larger jets were helping under no-load.

Thanks everyone for telling me the correct jet sizes and advice and especially Charlie for the nice power valve
